New CW Network Show Follows the Lives of Virgin America's "Fly Girls"

Cast to Work In-flight Premiere in the Sky, then Land on the Palazzo's Red Carpet for Vegas Launch Party

Virgin America, the only California-based airline, tonight joins forces with The CW and Collins Avenue Productions to celebrate "Fly Girls," the new television docu-series that takes a 360-degree look at the airline's flight crew as they live their lives at 500 MPH. The series will debut on The CW at 9:30pm on March 24, 2010. In advance of the show's network debut, tonight the exclusive in-flight premiere of "Fly Girls" will take off onboard a Virgin America flight en route to Las Vegas, followed by a red carpet launch party for the show at Lagasse's Stadium at The Palazzo Las Vegas. To celebrate the premiere with flyers, earlier this week Virgin America announced the Primetime Fare Sale.

"The idea behind Virgin America is to reinvent the experience of flying with beautifully designed mood-lit cabins, incredible guest service and a hip, sophisticated vibe that today's travelers are looking for," said Porter Gale, Vice President of Marketing at Virgin America. "We're thrilled to work with The CW to show how our in-flight teammates are re-writing the script and bringing the style and fun back to flying."

Tonight, the "Fly Girls" cast will work VX Flight 6005 en route to Las Vegas, serving cocktails like "VeeVa La Fly Girls" by VeeV Acai Spirit while flyers get a sneak peek of the show's first episode on Red™, Virgin America's innovative touch-screen entertainment platform. Upon touchdown, flight guests will be whisked to a star-studded launch party at the ultimate destination hotspot – The Palazzo Las Vegas.

Guests at the party, including over 100 Virgin America teammates, will enjoy specialty cocktails provided by Belvedere Vodka, Ambhar Tequila, TY KU and VeeV, served by Palazzo waiters decked out in flight gear. Guests will also be able to cast their vote on who will be the most "talked about" Fly Girl via SMS texting screens at the event.

"This show is about real women who happen to have landed on a very different career path. It chronicles the places they go, the guests they meet and their lives together," said Kristen Vadas, Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming, The CW. "We're thrilled to be working with Virgin America to give our viewers a unique peek into their whirlwind life at 35,000 feet."

Fly Girls is from Collins Avenue Productions, with executive producers Jeff Collins ("Bridezilla 3, 4 & 5," "The Exterminators") and Colin Nash ("The Hills," "The City") and co-executive producers Larry Bond and Porter Gale. Virgin Casino News And Virgin Games News: Virgin Casino To Add 100 New Games In 2010, by Greg Tingle - 26th February 2010

Virgin Casino News And Virgin Games News; Virtual Worlds Coming Up

Media Man reports from the Battle zone

New Games: King Kong, Call of Duty 4, Play Your Cards Right, Monopoly Multiplier

New Brand: AWOMO (A World Of My Own)

Virgin Casino, part of the leading online gaming company - Virgin Games, has announced that it has developed a road map to introduce all the latest casino games in the next twelve months, making it one of the most content rich gaming sites in the UK market.

To help enhance its already strong portfolio, Virgin Casino has taken on a new partner - Playtech company, Gaming Technology Solutions (GTS) - a leading global supplier of gaming solutions for online gaming operations. Playtech provides cutting-edge software to the top operators in the gaming industry, and through the GTS Enhanced Gaming Engine (EdGE) platform, will provide Virgin Casino with access to the best in casino games on the market. Amongst the many exciting games due to be launched this year are Call of Duty 4, Monopoly Multiplier and Play Your Cards Right.

Warren Eloff, Product Manager at Virgin Casino, commented:

"GTS EdGE platform allows us easy access to the best gaming suppliers in the business and partnering with them to help develop our product offering makes perfect sense. We plan to roll out over 100 games this year and among them will be some top brand names, providing our customers with sophisticated and exciting games that they have come to expect from us. With all these new games we will have one of the best casinos available online."

Founded in 2004, Virgin Casino has over 500,000 players and 50 casino games on its site. Via the introduction of a custom built Virgin Games platform in 2008, Virgin Casino seeks to provide its players with the widest possible choice of casino games. Virgin Casino offers games from a growing selection of games producers, including: WagerWorks, Cryptologic, FremantleMedia, Endemol, Dynamite Idea, VS Gaming and Ash Gaming.

To play at Virgin Casino visit www.virgingames.com

Virgin Games To Become Total Gaming Website Portal; A World Of My Own

Virgin Games is expanding into the non-gambling PC games market in a move to transform its brand as a "total gaming" website destination that will also facilitate the company to market the brand in jurisdictions where Virgin's online gambling product is not currently prohibited (eg: most of the Asia Pacific - Australia and the United States).

See World Casino Directory

A business agreement with tech company Game Domain International (GDI) will give Virgin Games access to 200 plus game titles from approx 70 developers available for easy download with names including Tomb Raider: Legend, Rome: Total War, Fifa Football Manager and Warhammer: Mark of Chaos. These will be offered in addition to Virgin Games' current portfolio of online games.

The new system entitled A World of My Own (AWOMO), aims to deliver online game content quicker than rival download services by allowing users to play the games before they are fully downloaded, in addition to offering pay-per-download or regular subscription payment options. It brings new life into the term, virtual worlds.

Virgin Games chief Simon Burridge has gone on record.

"This will open up a huge long tail of people who are gamers but are not prepared to invest heavily in gaming, and will open up PC games to a rental market that has never been done before. If this takes off it could do for the gaming industry what iTunes did for buying music: no-one buys music from shops anymore, they go online to iTunes."

"This will open up parts of the world where we have previously been excluded, including English-speaking markets such as South Africa or the United States where the Virgin brand is strong. That will also allow the brand greater strength in those markets should they regulate online gambling but that is a benefit rather than a main strategic goal".

AWOMO is currently in beta mode and the companies expect to launch the complete product in the third quarter of this year.

Harrah's CEO: Las Vegas still weak - 22nd February 2010

Harrah's Entertainment Inc sees few signs that Las Vegas is recovering from the slump that began with the financial crash of 2008, the company's chief executive said on Monday at the Reuters Travel and Leisure Summit in New York.

Citywide gambling revenue in Las Vegas has begun to stabilize, but room rates are still heavily discounted as casino operators compete to attract visitors.

"We are the cheapest date in the world ... That generates lots and lots of visitors," said Gary Loveman, CEO of Harrah's, the world's largest gambling company. "Las Vegas remains weak and will remain weak for the foreseeable future."

He also said Las Vegas group business bookings for 2011 are "encouraging," but 2010 remains soft.

Loveman attributed the prolonged downturn to customers' lack of cash amid the economic downturn and increased competition from new Las Vegas Strip resorts like MGM Mirage's $8.5 billion 6,000-room CityCenter.

Harrah's last week acquired the Strip's troubled Planet Hollywood resort by spending about $70 million to buy its discounted debt and agreeing to take over a $554 million mortgage.

"We got a building for a fraction of replacement cost," Loveman said.

Planet Hollywood gives the company seven contiguous resorts on the east side of the Las Vegas Strip -- it also owns Caesars Palace on the west side of the Strip.

NO ACTIVE MACAU TALKS

Harrah's, which was acquired by private equity firms Apollo Management APOLO.UL and TPG Capital TPG.UL in 2008, relies on Las Vegas and Atlantic City, New Jersey, for about 40 percent of its earnings.

The company, which has more than 50 casinos in six countries, also operates in regional U.S. gambling markets like Tunica, Mississippi, New Orleans and southern Indiana.

Loveman said Harrah's remains interested in a presence in China's Macau -- the world's largest gambling center -- but is not actively discussing such a deal.

"We do have an interest in Macau. We think Caesars is the best brand for that market," Loveman said.

The Chinese government has issued six gambling licenses in Macau, and U.S. companies MGM, Las Vegas Sands Corp and Wynn Resorts Ltd have casinos there.

The Harrah's CEO declined to comment on whether the company would consider a deal involving Australia's Crown Ltd, which owns a stake in Macau operator Melco Crown Entertainment.

During the recession, Harrah's has managed to avoid defaulting on its debt by renegotiating with its banks and buying bonds back at discounted prices.

The company, which now has a total debt load of about $19 billion, faces no major maturities before 2013, when nearly $6 billion comes due.

"It is possible that may be extended," Loveman said.

Meanwhile, Harrah's will focus on its massive customer database to continue driving business at its casinos.

Loveman said the company is in the process of rolling out the next iteration of its loyalty program -- called Total Rewards -- to include much more individualized, real-time targeting of customers.

"We think it enhances margins ... but mainly it makes for a much more satisfied customer," he said.

The CEO expects the new system to be up and running in about a year in Las Vegas, pending regulatory approvals.

Loveman said it will allow Harrah's to offer frequent gamblers things like a free hotel night if occupancy is low or a special cocktail before they even think of it.

It's like "Medicare comes to casino beverages," he said.

PartyGaming Casino Bets Boost Fourth Quarter; Satisfied players and management, by Greg Tingle - 17th February 2010

Online gambling group PartyGaming last week reported a 32% rise in fourth quarter sales as the thawing economic climate prompts punters to return to its virtual poker and casino tables to play the group's improved online games.

The company, which is listed on the London stock exchange but based in tax-friendly Gibraltar, said sales rose to $132.2 million in the three months to Dec. 31 from $100.4 million last year, helped by two acquisitions and a particularly strong performance in its casino division which offers online casino games like slots, blackjack and roulette, online poker games, sports betting and spread betting services.

PartyPoker.com remains the companies flagship brand however in the past 12 months PartyCasino.com has experienced considerable growth and brand presence, boosted by both branded slot games like Rambo, Mission: Impossible, Top Gun, Call Of Action 4: Modern Warfare, Resident Evil, The Terminator, Saturday Night Fever, The Godfather, a host of Marvel Entertainment themed games, and the recent news media campaign of which cricket and reality TV figure Phil 'Tuffers' Tufnell is the front man for.

PartyGaming is still on the look out for more igaming and betting sector companies to buy up following it's successful purchases of World Poker Tour and Cashcade. Earlier this month PartyGaming inked a "white label" deal with London Capital Group enhancing its spread betting offerings.

The company is the world's biggest listed online gaming group by market capitalization, derives most of its revenue from online poker and casino games and owns and operates a more modest sized sports book and bingo business, which is currently on the upswing.

Finance director Martin Weigold told reporters on a conference call following the results that casino revenue was boosted by a customer who won $5 million in one of the group's large jackpots and recycled $2 million of that win back into PartyGaming's casino website.

Weigold advised that the unusually strong sales rise is not sustainable going forward into 2010, however the company still expects to report double digit sales and profit growth in the year.

The bullish outlook for 2010 sits comfortably with the group's 2009 earnings, which it expects to be ahead of its own board forecasts.

Weigold said market consensus is for 'clean' earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, or Ebitda, of $132 million in 2010, and PartyGaming expects to outperform this.

'Clean' Ebitda is the company's preferred measure of profitability and excludes one-off, non-recurring and non-cash items. It is due to report is full year results March 4.

The good news buoyed PartyGaming shares, up 3.2% or 9 pence to 294p.

Alongside casino improvements, PartyGaming also reversed an 18-month trend of quarter-on-quarter revenue declines for its poker division, posting a 9% rise in sales to $49.1 million.

PartyGaming's poker operations had been under pressure due to competition from rivals, and the company has reacted by increasing the bonuses paid and expanding its loyalty programs (PartyPoints and Palladium Lounge)to encourage customers onto the site and retain them. Certainly Asia Pacific - Australian based players are sticking with it, based on feedback and buzz passed onto Asia Pacific's Media Man and Casino News Media firms.

The online gaming sector was hit by the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in October 2006 which effectively shut down the ultra lucrative market in the U.S. In Europe though, E.U. competition rules have prompted countries to start to open up their regulatory regimes to new players, and PartyGaming is looking to expand its operations when this happens.

It already has a growing presence in Italy, and with France and Denmark due to formalize regulation this year and next, the company is confident of its future growth prospects. South Africa, South America and India also appear to be countries well suited to grow the business. The Australian market is on fire says industry insiders. Australians remain some of the world's most passionate punters, in the top ten says recent figures quoted in the likes of Forbes, News Limited, Fairfax, WSJ, AP and Google News. The Aussie's are massive fans of the Hollywood blockbuster slot games and Marvel Entertainment titles Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four and The Amazing Spider-Man. Insiders advise Aussies are punting big in search of the Marvel Hero Jackpot, almost as popular as Party's 'The Big One' and 'Gold Mega Jackpot', currently sitting on approximately 3 million dollars.

PartyGaming is well aware that it's in the entertainment business and is pro active in putting the Business in Show, while maintaining happy punters, clients, partners and investors.

In addition the company is in discussions with other operators about potential deals and takeovers, although Chief Executive Jim Ryan wouldn't be drawn on whether a transformational deal would be forthcoming this year. Bwin's name keeps coming up, but its one of dozens who are keen to ink high end deals with PartyGaming.

Numis analyst Andrew Wade said he believes PartyGaming's fourth quarter performance should position it well for any merger and acquisition discussions, "as well as confirming it as an attractive partner for State and Private companies wanting to enter new markets."

The company is currently experiencing considerable growth in the Asia Pacific - Australian region, and is poised to return to the United States market, which compliments its strategic purchase of World Poker Tour, not to forget masses of U.S residents keen to play PartyGaming's Hollywood blockbuster slot games.

PartyGaming is expected to have presence at the upcoming iGaming Business event in Sydney, Australia this coming March.

*The writer has a b2b relationship with PartyGaming, as they do with dozens of brands in the igaming, gaming, media and entertainment industry.

Singapore bets on casinos to boost tourism - 12th February 2010

SINGAPORE — Singapore opens the first of two casinos on Sunday as part of a campaign to attract millions of new tourists, but the rich city-state is not touting itself as a rival to glitzy Macau or Las Vegas.

Resorts World Sentosa, owned by Malaysian gaming giant Genting, will also feature Southeast Asia's first Universal Studios movie theme park.

The second casino complex, Marina Bay Sands, is currently being completed by US-based Las Vegas Sands and is expected to open in April.

Officials hope the casinos will help Singapore achieve its target of 17 million visitors a year generating over 21 billion US dollars by 2015, boosting the services sector and reducing the role of manufacturing in the economy.

Visitor arrivals fell to 9.7 million visitors in 2009, down 4.3 percent from 2008, but a surge in the final quarter of last year boosted the tourism industry's hopes that 2010 numbers will be better.

The arrival numbers include tourists using the island city-state as a jumpoff point to other Asian destinations.

Singapore hopes tourists will stay a little longer -- and spend a lot more -- as a result of the casino resorts.

Resorts World Sentosa is aimed at families, while Marina Bay Sands, located next to the banking district, is designed to cater to the corporate and convention crowd.
"Singapore's new casinos open up Southeast Asia as an entirely new market for multiple-billion dollar integrated entertainment," Jonathan Galaviz, an independent gaming industry analyst based in Las Vegas, told AFP.

A marine life park, a maritime museum, a spa and two more hotels will be launched at Resorts World Sentosa after 2010.

Singapore gave the green light for casino gambling in 2005, setting off a flurry of construction that went ahead despite the city-state slipping into recession in 2008 due to the impact of the global crisis.

The two "integrated resorts" will cost a total of over 10 billion dollars to build.
Unlike larger neighbours Malaysia and Indonesia, highly urbanised Singapore has no major natural destinations to offer and relies on man-made attractions such as shopping malls and wildlife parks to pull in tourists.

Galaviz said the Singapore casino resorts are not expected to compete "substantially" with gambling-driven Macau because the resorts are pitched at visitors who prioritise entertainment over gambling.

The success of Singapore's casino resorts will be measured by how the attractions outside of the gaming rooms perform, he added.

"It's important for everybody to remember that more than 90 percent of (Singapore resorts' facilities) have nothing to do with casino gaming," he said.

"The more important metric to gauge the ultimate success of the (resorts) will be the non-casino revenue such as hotel rooms, retail, and restaurants."

Galaviz says Singapore's gaming market is expected to generate revenues of two billion dollars annually, which will be significantly lower than what Singapore residents already spend annually in legal gaming.

Figures from Singapore Totalisator Board, the city-state's sole legal betting operator, showed 5.77 billion dollars were wagered on horse racing, football matches, among others, in the year to March 2009.

Luxury revamp at casino - The Age - 12th February 2010

It is Australia's most expensive hotel at more than $27,500-a-night. Now Melbourne's Crown Towers Presidential Villas is to be overhauled and its private gaming salons expanded.

A spokesman said the refurbishment of Crown Towers is focused on the invitation-only sanctum between levels 29 and 36 that is frequented by the world's wealthiest gamblers. It is where golfer Tiger Woods stayed during the Australian Masters.

Spokesman Gary O'Neill would not confirm whether the renovation would add more extreme-stake tables in its VIP salons.

But industry sources said several of the hotel's penthouse villas were being removed to make room for a larger ''super high-roller'' gaming area. (Credit: The Age)

Australia Internet Censorship Issue at Breaking Point, by Greg Tingle - 11th February 2010

Special contributor to the Gambling911.com website, Greg Tingle, looks at the continuing uproar over censorship attempts in Australia as they apply to the Internet and ultimately online gambling websites, some of which appeared on a much publicized "black list" some months ago.

Was it Hollywood's Elvira who said "All is fair in love and war"? Whatever the case that seems to be the mindset of "Anonymous" who is blasting Australian government websites in protest to the proposed Australian Internet filter also with its bastard cousin, the ACMA (Australian Communications and Media Authority) "blacklist".

Welcome "Operational Titstorm".

It's fair to say that some Aussies are bloody pissed off that their endless stream of "vice" such as porn, gaming and other "questionable material" may be cut off thank to the intenet filter cum post Australian election time.

As we know know too well, often when a a government tries to smother and cover up a news story the story becomes bigger. This is a classic example. It's now a red hot international news item and the more Senator Stephen Conroy and his team try to smother it, the more fuel gets added to the fire! The news story is up there with China's "Great Wall Of China" censorship matters, along with human rights, freedom of information, freedom of speech, Hillary Clinton and friends.

One needs little imagination to see that some parallels can be drawn to what will happen in Australian when certain things become illegal... they will go underground, likely get more popular and sought after, however some consumer protection will be lost.

In the igaming industry I would recommend that people stick to brands they know and trust, be it PartyGaming, BetUS, Betfair, Virgin Games and I understand that both Playtech and Microgaming powered online casinos currently have a clean bill of health.

If you're an Aussie reading this, my "spies" tell me that in approx 6 months Australians won't be able to access popular porn sites RedTube and YouPorn (unless they have some sort of whiz bang anti censorship - anti filter device)... something that could well end up on the black market (i.e: pubs and clubs, "mates rates" and items that "fell off the back of a truck"). Over a decade ago when pay TV was introduced to Australians one used to be able to purchase a device to plug into the standard pay TV equipment and get pay TV for free! This allowed consumers to get more variety of channels, unscrambled (and for free)... things could very well end up going in a similar direction for Australian internet users based on recent developments.

News just in... The Australian government is trying to pursue Google to voluntarily censor YouTube videos in Australia. Google have refused the government's request thus far.

Media Man thanks and praises American and Canadian news media and igaming media news websites for bringing the news to the people and we applaud Gambling911 in their fearless commitment to educating and informing the masses on internet censorship and other important matters pertaining to the igaming, betting and political arena.

Australian government spooks and contractors are trying to get the defaced websites back on the air as of the time of writing.

Down and out in Vegas - 7th February 2010

Beneath the glitz, glamour and gambling that is synonymous with the Las Vegas strip, hundreds of downtrodden beings live in a series of storm drains that run under the city and its suburbs.

The tunnels are dark but the residents are not rats, they are the homeless in need of a place to rest, somewhere to stay out of sight and away from the hustle and bustle of the casino city.

About 300 people call this bleak environment home, venturing out only to scavenge for food or beg.

Usually it is warm and dry, but five freak days of rain that flooded the city also washed away their cardboard-box homes, bringing into stark relief an increasingly dark side to the neon-lit Las Vegas.

Outreach workers say poverty and homelessness are two of the city's biggest social problems, caused by financial disparities and the continuing US recession.

Despite the billions of dollars that go through the hands of croupiers and cashiers along the strip, many Vegas citizens feel no benefits.

The city's most recent homeless census, conducted a year ago, found that 13,338 people slept rough in Las Vegas, up from 11,417 two years earlier.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that the area's two homeless shelters have just 552 beds between them.

Statistics from the US Census Bureau show that 11.9 per cent of the city's 550,000 residents live below the poverty line. This rises to 14.8 per cent in the old downtown area, north of the strip.

There, the signs of poverty are obvious. On a street corner, not far from where the wedding chapel scene in the 2009 film The Hangover was shot, stands a rundown pawn shop with rickety metal shutters and a blacked-out front door.

Outside the pawn shop, a 20-strong queue is waiting to hock unwanted gold and silver.

"I need to change in my old wedding ring," says Sandra, a local divorcee in her 50s who has been out of work for five years.

Walking along the line, the stories are all the same; people selling heirlooms and personal possessions to pay for basic needs.

Estimates from charities put the number of Las Vegas locals struggling with hunger at one in eight. Just over 45 per cent of school children in the Clark County area, the county in which Vegas sits, are enrolled to receive free school meals because their families have low incomes.

As a result, local food banks are starting to run out. The Three Square Food Bank served $US30million ($34 million) worth of food last year and is doing everything it can to keep the charities it serves stocked.

The whole situation is aggravated by the area's unemployment rate – close to 13 per cent – which has been worsened not only by recession but the area's tourist-related problems.

Delores Witherspoon, a middle-aged single mother of one, lost her job at Southwest Gas in February last year. "Some days I ate, some days I didn't," she says, stressing her main aim was to put food on the table for her daughter and her ill grandmother.

Even though her income halved after she lost her job, Ms Witherspoon managed to keep making the payments on her mortgage. As a former employee of MGM Mirage's Bellagio casino, she received a call about available jobs at the company's soon-to-open $8.5billion CityCenter complex.

Six days before her grandmother died, in August last year, she got a job as a security guard at the development's Vdara hotel. "It was like she was holding on to make sure I was OK," Ms Witherspoon says.

Now living in a small apartment in east Las Vegas, while she waits for the bank to foreclose on her former home, she says she is happy to be busy and working.

If only the same could be said for the rest of the city's residents who fall on hard times.

Billionaire James Packer on a winner in Macau - 4th February 2010

The parent company of James Packer's casino venture in Macau has declared a surge in profits in January on increased market share and says the business is "ramping up nicely".

Mr Packer was also reported to be interested in selling down his stake in the venture, something which his partner in the two casinos in Macau described as "total nonsense", The Australian reports.

Shares in Melco International Development rose 3 per cent on the Hong Kong exchange yesterday on the profit news.

The company controls Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd, in which Mr Packer's Crown has a 32 per cent stake.

Melco estimated its January earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation would be more than $US40 million ($45.4m), providing some optimism after a poor quarterly result. Melco reported a net loss of $US89.7m for the December period compared with a loss of $18.9m a year earlier. But sales rose 58 per cent to $US400.2m from $US253.5m a year earlier, beating the $398m analysts had estimated.

The result was hit by higher costs from the opening of Melco Crown's City of Dreams casino on Macau's Cotai Strip last June.

Melco reported a surge in market share to 16 per cent, from 12 per cent in December, prompting the company to upgrade its January guidance.

"Our fourth quarter has been a tough quarter as we work through important changes to our business," Melco chief executive Lawrence Ho said.

"Going forward into 2010, I believe our business is in its best shape yet." Mr Ho said reports that US casino company Harrah's Entertainment was negotiating to buy a stake in the Macau casinos were "total nonsense". (Credit: Wires, News Limited)

Tabcorp sets sights on Gold Coast - 4th February 2010

Gaming giant Tabcorp Holdings says it sees expansion opportunities in casinos in Queensland.

"In the casinos, we continue to see significant expansion opportunities, and Star (Star City casino in Sydney) is the evidence that that is important," Tabcorp chief executive Elmer Funke Kupper told analysts in a market briefing today.

"And that's not surprising.

"Other casinos around the country that are investing in expansion are seeing those results.

"We really would like to do more in Queensland as well over the coming years because we belive particularly the Gold Coast will benefit from expansion investments."

PartyGaming Says to Beat Expectations, by Greg Tingle - 3rd February 2010

Online gambling group PartyGaming said it expected to report 2009 EBITDA slightly ahead of the board's expectations and highlighted the prospects for consolidation in the sector.

The company, which operates online gaming websites like PartyPoker.com and PartyCasino.com, said group revenue for the fourth quarter of 2009 was $132 million (82.3 million pounds), up 32 percent on the prior year and 17 percent on the previous quarter.

It said the key drivers behind the performance were a strong performance in casino and sports betting and an increase in new player sign-ups.

"With some of the world's largest gaming sites in poker, casino and bingo, and opportunities to further consolidate the online gaming sector, we are confident about our future prospects," said Chief Executive Jim Ryan on Wednesday.

PartyGaming has held talks with a number of companies over possible consolidation including Austria's bwin. Analysts expect a wave of M&A activity among online gaming groups over the coming year. The company also announced the appointment of Per Widerstrom, previously chief executive of Mangas Gaming, to the newly created role of chief operating officer.
